Mycelial biomass is the asexual, root-like foundation of mushrooms and is the most long-lived and bioactive phase of the mushroom life cycle.

Mycelial biomass refers to the inseparable matrix of mycelium and the remnants of the fermented, enzymatically-converted substrate that the mycelium of the mushroom is growing upon. Each mushroom species thrives in its own custom-designed environment with precisely controlled temperature, air quality, and lighting conditions. Following careful cultivation, we process the whole mushroom through a shredding and dehydration process using heated, filtered, and UVC-sanitized air. We enhance nutrient bioavailability through a specialized steam activation step early in the dehydration process, while carefully monitoring temperatures to ensure our "ready-to-eat" superfoods meet the highest safety standards.

Each mushroom is carefully cultivated in optimal conditions at our specialized indoor farm located in San Diego, California. Our expert team selects the crops for harvesting and processing at the optimum stage of development.

The selected solid blocks of mycelial biomass and primorida/fruit bodies are shredded and then subjected to a steam activation process that serves to increase bioavailability by softening and disrupting the cell walls of the mycelium and primordia/fruit bodies. 

The fresh material is then carefully dehydrated to a low moisture content to ensure a stable shelf life.  After dehydration, the material is milled into a fine powder that further disrupts the cell walls and creates a great amount of powder particle surface area for digestive processes to work upon when the mushroom powder is consumed.

We do not use any extraction processes. We use the whole mushroom to ensure the important bioactive compounds and nutrients from the mycelium, primordia and/or fruit bodies are included in our functional mushroom products.

We grow our mushrooms on 100% organic, non-GMO gluten free whole oats. Oats themselves do not contain gluten. Every delivery of oats we receive has a Certificate of Compliance. We carefully inspect every load that is received and reserve the right to reject the load if gluten-grain contamination is found. 

To make absolutely sure our mushroom powders are in alignment with FDA guidelines, every production lot is tested at a 10ppm gluten threshold level to ensure that the finished products are well below the current FDA guidelines that require less than 20ppm gluten for gluten-free product labeling.

While functional mushrooms are a natural product, as with any dietary supplement, we always recommend consulting your health care provider before use.

To use Om's mushroom powders, add one teaspoon (2 grams) of Om Mushroom Superfood powder to your favorite juice, smoothie, coffee, soup, dip, or even use it in recipes, such as baked goods. Check out the recipe section on our website for other great ideas of how to use!

To use Om's mushroom capsules, take three (3) capsules per day with a glass of water.

To use Om's mushroom functional beverages, add approx. 1 tablespoon (or 1 sachet) to 8oz of water or your favorite milk , blend well with a hand frother, and enjoy hot or cold!

To use Om's mushroom gummies, chew (2) gummies 1-2 times per day.

To use Om's mushroom protein powders, mix two scoops (or 1 sachet) with 12oz or more of water or your favorite milk, or add to smoothies. For best results, use a blender or electric mixer.

Om Mushroom Superfood Powders are unflavored and have a pleasant, natural, “earthy” flavor.
