We grow our Om! All 10 species of our functional mushrooms are grown and processed in our BRCGS AA rated, cGMP indoor farm in San Diego, California. We cultivate and use the following mushrooms in our Om Products: Lion's Mane, Reishi, Chaga, Cordyceps, Turkey Tail, Shiitake, Maitake, King Trumpet, Himematsutake, and Antrodia. Each of Om's mushroom species offers its own unique benefits for your wellbeing‡. Feel free to explore Our Mushrooms page where you can discover the uses of each of our functional mushrooms and learn more about how mushrooms work wonders!

What are mushrooms good for?

+

Functional mushrooms have been traditionally used for thousands of years. Scientific research has confirmed the health benefits of these powerful mushrooms; primarily immune support through beta glucans‡. Since our bodies cannot produce beta-glucans naturally, incorporating functional mushrooms into your daily routine can play a valuable role in nurturing your overall health and wellness‡. What makes these mushrooms truly special is that each species brings its own unique benefits to your well-being: some enhance memory and focus, others strengthen immune function or promote gut health, while certain varieties help with stress management, provide antioxidant protection, restore balance, or support endurance and recovery‡.

What makes functional mushrooms beneficial?

+

Our diverse offering of functional mushrooms offers a variety of benefits that vary by species‡. Within these remarkable fungi, you'll find an abundance of beneficial compounds including beta glucans and other polysaccharides, powerful polyphenols, prebiotic non-soluble fiber, and digestive enzymes—all working together to support your immune system's natural function‡. Om's carefully grown functional mushrooms are also natural sources of essential Vitamin D, important minerals, and valuable amino acids. What makes these mushrooms truly special are their unique species-specific compounds: the protective triterpenes found in Reishi and Turkey Tail, the energizing cordycepin that Cordyceps uniquely provides, and the supportive neurotrophic factors present in Lion's Mane. Each of these remarkable compounds contributes to your overall health and wellness in its own special way‡.

What is “mycelial biomass”? How much of it is in the powder?

+

Mycelial biomass is the root-like foundation of mushrooms and is the most bioactive phase in the mushroom life cycle. The mycelium serves as the primary living system of the mushroom—a vibrant network full of beneficial polysaccharides, nourishing prebiotic fibers, and compounds that support both neurological health and immune function‡. In all our mushroom supplements, we incorporate the whole mushroom (mycelium, primordia and/or fruit bodies) rather than isolating specific parts. This holistic approach allows us to harness the complete nutrient profile that nature intended, ensuring you receive the full spectrum of beneficial compounds that these extraordinary fungi have to offer‡.

How are the mushrooms grown?

+

Our mycology team brings over 100 years of combined mushroom cultivation expertise to Om. In our state-of-the-art indoor farm in San Diego, California—fully compliant with certified Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)—Om's organic functional mushrooms flourish through their complete life cycle, developing rich mycelial biomass, primordia and/or fruit bodies. Each mushroom species thrives in its own custom-designed environment with precisely controlled temperature, air quality, and lighting conditions. Following careful cultivation, we process the whole mushroom through a shredding and dehydration process using heated, filtered, and UVC-sanitized air. We enhance nutrient bioavailability through a specialized steam activation step early in the dehydration process, while carefully monitoring temperatures to ensure our "ready-to-eat" superfoods meet the highest safety standards. This meticulous approach yields a whole food mushroom powder containing the full spectrum of naturally occurring nutrients: beta glucans, complex polysaccharides, polyphenols, prebiotic fiber, supportive digestive enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids—plus all the unique compounds specific to each mushroom species. For your peace of mind, our functional mushroom products proudly carry multiple certifications: 100% Organic, Project Verified Non-GMO, Kosher, and Gluten Free.

Where do your mushrooms come from?

+

We grow our Om! All of our functional mushrooms are grown and processed in our BRCGS AA rated, cGMP indoor farm in San Diego, California.

Do you test your products for heavy metals?

+

Yes, we take product quaility and safety extremely seriously. Every one of our products are subject to in-house and 3rd party testing for heavy metals and other contaminants and meet and exceed industry standards, including Prop 65. What truly sets us apart is our complete control over the growing and processing journey. Our functional mushrooms are cultivated and prepared in our ultra-clean facility, which maintains the highest quality certifications: cGMP (Certified Good Manufacturing Practices) and BRCGS AA rating. Our spore-to-shelf approach allows us to personally guarantee that every functional mushroom product reaching your hands is of the highest quality and purity.

How are your mushrooms processed?

+

Each mushroom is carefully cultivated in optimal conditions at our specialized indoor farm located in San Diego, California. Our expert team harvests them before beginning the dehydration process. During dehydration, we use meticulously filtered air under constant monitoring to preserve the mushrooms' beneficial compounds. This careful attention continues as the dried mushrooms are turned into a fine powder through our milling process. We then package our functional mushroom supplements for you to enjoy as part of your daily wellness routine

Do you perform hot water or alcohol extractions?

+

We do not use an extraction process. We use the whole mushroom to ensure the important bioactive compounds and nutrients from the mycelium, primordia and/or fruit bodies are included in our functional mushroom products.

Why mycelium?

+

Om Mushroom Superfood powders harness the benefits of the entire mushroom, incorporating mycelium, primordia and/or fruit bodies to deliver a complete nutritional profile. Nature has designed each mushroom species uniquely—some produce abundant fruit bodies (the familiar spore-producing structures) more readily than others. The mycelium—the intricate, root-like network of the mushroom—serves as the primary living system of these remarkable fungi. This complex web of active threadlike strands contains many bioactive compounds. Within this network, you'll find an abundance of polysaccharides, prebiotic fibers, and specialized compounds that support both neurological health and immune function‡. Many of these valuable compounds are either exclusively present in or predominantly found within the mycelium itself, making this often-overlooked part of the mushroom essential to a comprehensive superfood.

Why are the mushrooms “fermented”? What do you mean by fermentation?

+

We craft our mushroom superfood powders through a natural method called Solid State Fermentation (SSF). In this process, the mushroom mycelia—those intricate, root-like networks that form the foundation of the mushroom—release their own natural enzymes that work to "digest" or "ferment" the certified organic, gluten-free whole oats on which our mushrooms grow. As this natural fermentation process unfolds, the enzymes methodically break down the nutrients stored within the oats, allowing these valuable compounds to be absorbed across the mycelial cell walls. Once inside, these nutrients undergo a transformation, being converted into both mushroom tissue and specialized mushroom metabolites that offer unique benefits. No additional fermentation stage happens after this natural conversion takes place.

Why do you grow the mushrooms on oats?

+

Mushrooms showcase impressive adaptability, producing a variety of enzymes that allow them to extract nutrition from diverse substrate materials. At our indoor farm, we've strategically chosen Certified 100% Organic, Project Verified Non-GMO, gluten-free whole oats as the growing medium for our mushrooms for several important reasons. Unlike low-nutrition substrates such as wood, oats create a naturally challenging environment that stimulates greater enzymatic activity in the mushrooms. This nutritionally rich foundation encourages our mushrooms to develop their full potential of beneficial compounds while maintaining exceptional purity. Our choice of oats also reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship. Oats typically grow as an un-irrigated crop, making them a water-conscious alternative to other functional mushroom substrates like rice, which demands significant water resources. Additionally, oat cultivation produces minimal methane emissions compared to other crops, helping to reduce greenhouse gas contributions. This careful selection of growing medium represents just one way we balance optimal mushroom nutrition with environmental responsibility, creating products that are beneficial for both you and our planet.

I have Candida. Will the mushrooms encourage yeast to grow in my body?

+

If you have Candida or any other medical condition you should always consult with your health care provider before introducing mushrooms or other dietary supplements into your diet.
